The Inclusive Education Department has donated furniture to four special public schools based in Nairobi as part of its efforts to support children living with disability.
They donated 80 desks, 50 revolving chairs and tables which are expected to enhance learning at Mathare Special School, Tree Side Special School, Jacaranda Special School and Kabete Vet Lab Special Unit.
“This is part of the Departments initiatives to create awareness and support children with special needs from humble backgrounds to access decent education in a more comfortable environment,” said Benson Mutiku, the IED Strategic Leader.
The second phase of this CSR initiative will focus on other areas such as water and sanitation, infrastructure, vocational training and therapy programs.
Speaking during the event held at Primary Campus, the Principal of Kabete Vetlab Special Unit for the mentally handicapped Agoi Onzere, thanked Oshwal Academy profusely “My school lacks furniture and other vital facilities required to train specially abled children,” he said. “We call upon all stakeholders and well-wishers to join hands in ensuring that these students achieve their dreams in life, in spite of their background.”
